Aviva to expand its Offshore Outsourcing to India up to great extent

British insurance company Aviva is planning to double its strength in India and Sri Lanka by offering the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and call center services in the territories and expand services from the house of the company for Offshore Outsourcing. The company is planning to enlarge and strength the number of work force provided by company’s three contractors in India. It would increase the manpower in India from 4,300 to almost 7,800 over the time period of next two years. These informations were declared by the spoke woman from the company in the December 2005. It is the clear indication of Aviva to expand its Offshore Outsourcing to India up to great extent. Company is also planning the same thing for Sri Lanka for IT Outsourcing and services.

Aviva’s operations from these two destinations currently proposes the services like call center and back-office processing in the insurance fields like life, health care and in general insurance services, stated by the spokeswoman of the company. Currently company is doing well in the market of these two countries in Insurance sector. Company is now planning to expand its services in the area of BPO and call centers in these two countries.

Currently around 250 of the 4,300 workforce are based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where Aviva has outsourced some specific financial back-office processes and jobs. Company also did well in this area of Offshore Outsourcing. The rest of the manpower of the company is based in India. Though the company has not made it clear that how much staff would provide services from Sri Lanka after the expansion is complete for IT Outsourcing. Company’s business processes and IT Outsourcing functions and operations in the territories of India and Sri Lanka are handled by Aviva Offshore Services. In India this service center is in Pune, which has the strength of 51 employees.

Facility for Offshore Outsourcing

One of the Aviva's suppliers, 24/7 Customer, a BPO firm in Bangalore, declared that company is setting up an almost 1,800 seats center in Chennai, India for IT Outsourcing. This center would serve Aviva's operations and important functions for Offshore Outsourcing in the U.K. The new facility for Offshore Outsourcing was to commence operations in February 2006. Company Aviva was also to expand the staffs around 1700 in Bangalore. This center currently possesses 1,100 employees servicing company's operations in the U.K. and Canada. Company mainly utilize the build, operate, transfer model (BOT) in Indian Territory, facilitate the company the option to obtain the operation, that includes manpower, from its partners.

Company at present outsources its BPO and call center jobs also to Exl Service Holdings (EXL), a company in New York having operations in Mumbai, India. These are some of the expansion areas of the company in India and Sri Lanka for Offshore Outsourcing.
